Requirements for the Doctorate Degree’s Programmes
- Applicants must be Master’s degree holders in the proposed field of studies, the degree must be obtained from approved universities with the minimum FCGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point scale or a minimum of 70% for universities that don’t use the FCGPA.
- A proposal of not more than five type-written pages which includes, Topic (not more than 18 words), Brief background of the Study, Aim and Objectives/Purpose, Methodology, Expected Outcomes, References.
Duration of the Doctorate Degree’s Programme
Full-Time Doctorate Degree’s Programme
For the full-time Doctorate Degree’s Programme minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters is required.
Part-Time Doctorate Degree’s Programme
For this program, a minimum of eight (8) semesters and a maximum of fourteen (14) semesters is required.

Requirements for the Master’s Degree Programmes
- Applicants must be degree holders in the proposed field of study obtained from recognized universities with not less than 3.0 FCGPA on a 5 point scale or 60% obtained from universities that don’t use FCGPA.
- Applicants with Postgraduate Diploma must have acquired the minimum FCGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point scale from recognized institutions.
Duration of the Master’s Degree Programmes
Full-Time Masters Degree programmes
This requires a minimum of three (3) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters.
Part-Time Master’s Degree Programme
This requires a minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of eight (8) semesters.

Requirements for the Postgraduate Diploma Programmes
- Applicants must be first degree holders with the minimum FCGPA of 1.51 on a 5 point scale acquired from approved Universities.
- Applicants with Higher National Diploma (HND) must score a minimum of Upper Credit which was obtained from approved Polytechnics or Monotechnics.
- Candidates applying for the Postgraduate programme must have credit passes in the minimum of five (5) WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or TCII(Faculty of Education only) subjects of which the English Language is compulsory and any four relevant subjects at no more than two sittings.

It requires a minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of three (3) semesters.
Part-Time Postgraduate Diploma Programmes
It requires a minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of six (6) semesters
How to Apply for the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Unizik Postgraduate Programmes
- Click www.portal.unizik.edu.ng/postgraduate
- On the portal, click on ‘Create Account’.
- Fill the form with your correct details.
- Click submit.
- A successful email will be sent to you.
- In your email, click ‘click here’.
- Enter your login details and log in.
- On the menu bar Click on ‘Step one’ to generate and print the Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) Code used for the ICT Fee which is 1000 Naira.
- On the menu bar click the ‘Step two’ to generate and print the Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) Code used for the Application Fee which is 10,000 Naira.
- With the two printed RRR forms, go to any bank close to you and the payment of Application Fee of 10,000 Naira and ICT Fee of 1000 Naira (Bank charges may be applied).
- After the payments go back to the school portal and on the menu bar, click on ‘step three’.
- Input the Application and ICT RRR codes to their respective boxes and click confirm.
- After successful confirmation of the two payments proceed to ‘step four’ and fill the online application form without any mistake.
- Scan and upload the required documents as instructed in the portal and submit them online.
- Print the completed Application Form and keep safe because it will be required for future use.
- Print the ‘Transcript Request Form’ and submit to your former Institution for your academic transcripts. Any change of name must be notified in the transcript form.
- Details of three referees such as names, phone number and e-mail addresses are required, a minimum of two referees must be Academics with the minimum rank of Senior Lecturer.
Important Information
- Form sales will close on August 14th, 2020.
- Form submission Ends on August 21st, 2020.
- Transcripts must be forwarded to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies latest August 17th, 2020.
Second Tier Applications
- Form sales will close on December 31st, 2020
- Form submission Ends on January 7th, 2021
- Transcripts must be forwarded to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies latest January 7th, 2021.
- “Qualified Applicants will be invited for Screening Test and Proposal Defence (Ph.D. only) from 25th – 27th January 2021.”
