Below are the UNN faculty requirements for POST UTME and DIRECT ENTRY admissions, however, these requirements alone cannot get the aspiring candidates admitted into the university, candidates who wish to be admitted into the University of Nigeria will have to meet up with the specified departmental cut off mark as well; before he or she can secure an admission with the institution.

FACULTY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES

COURSES DIRECT ENTRY UTME
Agric Economics.

Agric Extension.

Animal Science.

Crop Science.

Soil Science.

  • Two A’ level passes (London/Cambridge/Cameroon) in Chemistry and either Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agricultural Science, Economics, Physics, Geography/Geology, Mathematics (Pure & Applied) in addition to UTME entry requirement.
  • OND/NCE/HND/Degree in Agricultural Science/Animal Health and related fields with a minimum of Lower Credit (Merit) in addition to UTME Entry requirement.
Five credit passes in O’ level subjects of which English Language, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry and either Mathematics or Physics is a must.
Home Science As in Agricultural Economics Based on the UTME/General University Entry requirements, an applicant must obtain credit passes in Chemistry, Biology or either Food and Nutrition/Agricultural Science
Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Passes at the Principal levels in the Higher School Certificate Examination or equivalent passes at GCE Advanced Level in any two of these subjects: Chemistry, Biology (Botany and/or Zoology), Agricultural Science, Physics or Mathematics.
  • OND/NCE/HND certification in Nutrition and Dietetics/Home Economics/Agricultural Science, Food Science and UTME entry requirements into 2 or 3 hundred levels.
  • Certification in Nursing or approved Diploma/NCE in relevant subjects. Candidate must also possess the UTME entry requirement.
Based on the UTME/University general entry requirements, applicants must possess credits in the O’level subjects of which Chemistry, Biology or Food and Nutrition or Agricultural Science and Physics or Mathematics is compulsory.
Food Science and Technology Two “A” level passes in Biology/Botany/Zoology/Agricultural Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics, in addition to UTME entry requirements. Five credit Passes in O’level subjects which include English Language, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry Mathematics and Physics.

FACULTY OF ARTS

Four Years Programme Four Years Programme
Applicants aspiring for four-years programme must possess five Credits passes in O’level WASC/NECO/GCE subjects or its equivalent of which English Language, Mathematics and any science subject is compulsory.
  • Candidates must have passed two papers in Higher School Certificate or GCE A/L and have the minimum entry requirements of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka which includes a credit pass in English Language and Mathematics at O’level WASC or GCE or its equivalent.
  • Candidates with Diploma or NCE certification recognized by the University of Nigeria also qualify for Direct Entry admission.
  • Students combining Archaeology with Science or the Social Sciences must reach the requirements in the respective faculties.

FACULTY OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

For the Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, the course duration is three years for direct-entry students, while it is four years for UTME students.

DIRECT ENTRY UTME
Candidate must possess General Certificate of Education at Advanced level, or the Higher School Certificate at Principal Level, in Chemistry and Biology, or Plant Science and Biotechnology or Zoology and Environmental Biology, as well as O’level WAEC credits, pass in either Mathematics or Physics or its equivalent.
Candidate with diploma certification in The Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE); three-year diploma of College of technology and Polytechnics (HND) and the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination (Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria) may be considered for admission.
Candidates must possess O’level SSCE/WASCE/ NECO credit passes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language and Mathematics or its equivalent.
Candidates from other departments must possess credit passes in O’level WASCE/NECO/SSCE subjects which include Biology, Chemistry and Elementary Mathematics or a similar standard at an equivalent examination.

FACULTY OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

DIRECT ENTRY UTME
Candidates must possess the minimum of merit grade at the Nigerian Certificate of Education (NCE), Diploma Certificate in Education, Music, Religion, Adult Education, Health Education, Social Science Education or Science Education. Candidates must possess five (5) credit passes in O’level SSCE/WASCE/NECO/GCE subjects with a minimum of two sittings.
