The Air force Institute Of Technology (AFIT) is one of the Nigerian military-owned higher institutions which started off as  NAF Technical and Supply School (TSS) in the year 1977 and has evolved to different nomenclatures of which the current name ‘Air force Institute Of Technology (AFIT)’ was birthed in the year 2008.

The institution is situated at Nigerian Air force Base, Kawo, Kaduna, Kaduna State, Northern part of Nigeria. It was established to provide basic training to Nigeria Air Force (NAF) as well as civilians on aerospace engineering, mechatronics engineering, avionics, and aeronautics,.

In the year 2018, the National Universities Commission (NUC)  approved AFIT to fully-fledged University to award Degree certifications at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the courses as listed below.

Air Force Institute Of Technology (AFIT) Admission

Admission into any programme or course in the Air Force Institute Of Technology is based on NUC standards which are as follows:

Undergraduate Regular Courses

Candidates who wish to be admitted into any AFIT Undergraduate Degree Courses must possess the minimum NUC requirements for Nigeria universities which are as follows:

A minimum of five credit passes in O’level SSCE WAEC/NECO/NABTEB/GCE which must include English Language, Mathematics, and three other subjects relevant to candidates course of interest.

Applicant must choose the AFIT as a first choice institution in the current year JAMB UTME and obtain the minimum JAMB cut off mark for Nigerian Universities which is 170 marks.

Applicants must undergo a compulsory screening examination and obtain the AFIT cut off mark for the interesting course.

Direct Entry

Applicant must possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes in O’level SSCE WAEC/NECO/NABTEB/ which must include Mathematics, English Language, and three other subjects relevant to the aspiring course.

Accounting

Business Administration

Economics

(i) Applicant must possess two (2) A level passes in Economics and Principles of Accounting and Management.

(ii) ND/HND upper credit in relevant disciplines,

Cyber Security Applicant must possess at least two (2) A-Level passes in Mathematics and either Chemistry or Physics.
Aerospace Engineering

Civil Engineering

Electrical/Electronic Engineering

Mechanical Engineering

(i) Must possess A-Level passes in Physics and Mathematics.

(ii) ND Upper Credit or HND Lower Credit in relevant courses.

Post Graduate Diploma (PGD)

Aerospace Engineering Applicant must have at least Third Class in any of the following:

  • Engineering
  • Material Sciences
  • Physics

Or HND certification with at least lower credit in any of the following:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Computer Science/Engineering
  • Material Science Engineering
Electrical and Electronics Engineering Applicant must possess at least Third Class in First degree

Or HND certification with a minimum of lower credit in:

Electrical and Electronics Engineering and other related fields.

Logistics and Supply Chain Management Must have at least a first-degree certification with Third Class Honours

Or HND certification with at least lower credit in:

Purchasing & Supply and other related fields.

Masters In Aerospace Engineering

Candidate must have at least Second Class Honours in any of the following:

  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical/|Electronics Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering
  • Computer Science/Engineering
  • Material Science Engineering
  • Physics
