Bayero University Kano (BUK) is a federal owned university located at Kano, Kano State in the northwest part of Nigeria.

The University started as Ahmadu Bello College in 1960 and was established as a full-fledged university with nomenclature Bayero University Kano (BUK) in the year 1975 to award degree certification in both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Currently, the BUK has 2 colleges, 17 faculties, 12 centers of studies, 1 institute and 4 schools of studies and all are listed as follows:

Bayero University Kano Admission

BUK admission is based on the NUC standards as stated below:

UNDERGRADUATE CANDIDATES

Candidates must possess at least five passes in O’level WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB of which Mathematics and English Language are compulsory including three other subjects relevant to the desired course.

Candidate must choose the Bayero University Kano (BUK) as the first choice university in the JAMB UTME and obtain the JAMB cut off mark for BUK after which the candidate must proceed to write the Bayero University Post UTME and as well obtain the departmental cut off mark.

DIRECT ENTRY CANDIDATES

Candidates must possess at least five passes in O’level WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB of which the English Language is compulsory for every course, and Mathematics is required for science and social sciences courses plus other relevant subjects to make it five.

Candidate must possess OND certification with merit/NCE/IJMB with at least 8 points/GCE ‘A’ Level (3 credits)/ HND (Pass).

Applicants with an ‘A’ Level certificate must submit their credentials for screening.

PART-TIME DEGREE CANDIDATES

This category of applicants must possess all the requirements stated above for the ‘DIRECT ENTRY CANDIDATES’ in addition must not be over the age of 25 years of age.
