Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) 2020 Federal Scholarship Board

The Federal Ministry of Education is calling on the suitably qualified Nigerians to apply for the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) 2020 federal government scholarship.

This scholarship is open for both secondary school graduates as well as higher institution graduates to be sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education to continue their respective undergraduate and postgraduate studies in non-English speaking countries which are listed below:

Scholarships Countries

Undergraduate (UG) Studies

Russia, Morocco, Algeria, Cuba, Egypt, Hungary, Japan, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey.

NOTE: Duration for undergraduate studies in Serbia is Eight (8) years for general courses while for Medicine is Nine (9) years.

Postgraduate (PG) studies

China, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, Russia (for those who obtained their first degrees from Russia), Serbia, South Korea, Turkey, etc.

NOTE: Applicants applying for postgraduate studies scholarship in Russia must have acquired their 1st Degree in Russia.

Duration for postgraduate studies in Serbia is 3 – 4years for MSC and 5 – 6years for Ph.D.

Available Disciplines

Disciplines available for study under the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) are as follows:

Undergraduate (UG) Studies

Agriculture, Architecture,  Biotechnology, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Languages,  Law, Mathematics, Medicine (very limited), Sciences, Social Sciences, Sports, etc.

Postgraduate (PG) studies

Postgraduate level (Masters Degree and Ph.D.) in every field.

Requirements For Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship

Selected candidates will be required to submit these:

  • Original copies of academic certificates
  • International passport current Data page
  • Specified Medical Reports from Government hospitals
  • National Identification Number (NIN)
  • Police Clearance Certificate (where necessary)

Undergraduate Scholarships

  • Applicants must possess SSCE WASSCE/WAEC (May/June) certificate only with at least five (5) distinctions (As & Bs) in English Language and Mathematics plus three other subjects relevant to the desired field of study and must have been obtained in not more than 2 years ago (2018 & 2019) for non-African countries and not more than 1 year ago (2019) for African countries.
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 18 to 20 years.

Postgraduate Scholarships

  • Candidates must first degree holders with at least second class upper division from a reputable university.
  • NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate is a must.
  • Candidates should be between the ages of 35 years to 40 years for Ph.D.
  • The previous beneficiary of foreign awards must possess a minimum of two (2) years post qualification experience or employment practice in Nigeria.
  • Candidate must present proof of the employer’s eagerness to deploy him/her.

How To Apply For Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA)

  • Eligible candidates should go to the BEA scholarships application portal www.fsbn.com.ng
  • Click on the ‘Apply Now’ button.
  • Fill the online registration form with your correct and active details.
  • Click the ‘Register’ button.
  • Verify your account and log into your dashboard.
  • Complete your application and upload the scan copies of the requested documents and certificates.
  • Hungarian scholarship applicants are eligible to apply for two fields of study in accordance with the preference and must-visit www.stipendiumhungaricum.hu to complete their online application form.
  • Printout your completed form and Examination slip and come along with them to the exam/interview center.

Important Notice

  • The application deadline is 6th December 2020.
  • Candidates applying to study in Japan must possess a solid background in further mathematics.
  • Selected candidates should be ready to undertake a one-year mandatory foreign language course of the chosen country as it shall be the standard medium of instruction.
  • Double entries lead to automatic disqualification.
  • The screening exam will be a Computer Based Test.
