The Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC 26) recruitment is currently ongoing for the eligible civilians as well as the serving military personnel who shall be enlisted into the commissioned rank of Lieutenant upon successful shortlisted after sitting for the entrance examination and undergoing a six (6) months intensive military training.

Qualified candidates for the Nigerian Army Direct Short Service (DSSC 26) Recruitment is civilian graduates who possess a first degree  (second class lower) or HND (lower credit) as well as military service personnel who attended civil institutions under the sponsorship of any Nigerian Armed Forces services.

Qualifications/ Requirements

Every applicant for this category must be registered with the relevant professional regulatory bodies and shall possess a current practising license as the proofs are a must.

MEDICAL AND DENTAL CONSULTANTS

Applicants should be certified in any of the following fields of specialization:

Applicants must not be above the age of 40 years old by January 2021.

Additionally, applicants must be Fellows of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or equivalent Postgraduate Medical College.

GENERAL DUTY MEDICAL/DENTAL OFFICERS

Applicants must be MBBS/BDS certification holders or the equivalent certification with not more than 5 years post – qualification experience.

The applicant must be a registered member of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

OPTOMETRISTS

Applicants must be Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree holders.

The applicant must be a registered member of the appropriate professional body.

DENTAL THERAPISTS/DENTAL SURGERY ASSISTANT AND DENTAL TECHNOLOGISTS

The applicant must be a Higher Diploma holder.

The applicant must be a registered member of the relevant professional bodies.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGISTS

Applicants must be first degree holders in Clinical Psychology.

NURSES

Applicants must be first degree holders in Nursing.

The applicant must be registered fully with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

PHARMACISTS

Applicants must be first degree holders in Pharmacy.

The applicant must be a registered member of the Pharmacist Council of Nigeria.

PROFESSIONALS ALLIED TO MEDICINE

Applicants must be first degree holders with at least second class lower in any of the following disciplines:

Directorate of Chaplain Services (Protestant)

Qualifications/ Requirements

Applicants must be First Degree holders with at least Second Class Lower in Theology/Divinity obtained from any Nigerian Army Directorate of Chaplain Services (Protestant) recognized Seminaries/Universities.

The applicant must be a member of one of the 18 major denominations of the protestant faith.

Soldier applicants must have served the Nigerian Army with at least six (6) years of Chaplaincy work experience and must be vetted and recommended by the Nigerian Army Directorate of Chaplain Services (Protestant).

Proof of Ordination, attestation, and certification by an ordained Bishop is a must.

Directorate of Chaplain Services (Roman Catholic)

Qualifications/ Requirements

Applicants must be First Degree holders with at least Second Class Lower in Philosophy and Theology obtained from a seminary approved by Roman Catholic, affiliated to a National Universities Commission (NUC) accredited by a University or Urbanian University, Rome.

The applicant must possess good standing in the church and be released by a Diocesan Bishop with ordination proof.

Applicants must be vetted and recommended by the Nigerian Army Directorate of Chaplain Services.

Directorate of Islamic Affairs

Qualifications/ Requirements

Applicants must be First Degree holders with at least Second Class in Arabic and Islamic Studies or Sharia and Arabic Language obtained from recognized Nigerian universities/ Azhar University/ Cairo or Saudi University.

A testimony of excellent character from a reputable Islamic religious organization in Nigeria must be presented.

Applicants must be able to speak Arabic as well as the English Language.

Directorate of Legal Service

Qualifications/ Requirements

Applicants must be a holder of LLB BL certification obtained from a reputable institution.

The applicant must present proof of two (2) years post Law School legal practice.

Directorate of Army Public Relations

Requirements For The Nigerian Army Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC 26)

  • Applicants must be Nigerian citizens.
  • Must be between 20 – 30 years of age, while medical consultants must not be above 40 years old by January 2021.
  • Male applicants should measure at least 1.68m in height while their female counterparts must measure at least 1.65m.
  • The applicant must be physically, mentally, and medically fit according to the NA standards.
  • Applicants must present Letters of recommendation and attestation for the good character from two (2) reputable referees including the applicant’s Local Government Chairman/Secretary or a Service Military Officer with at least Lieutenant Colonel rank and equivalent or an Assistant Commissioner of Police and above who must be of the same state of origin as the applicant. The passport photographs of the referees must be affixed to the attestation letter.
  • Applicants must present a letter of attestation from a former institution of theirs.
  • Post-secondary academic credentials of 2011 and upwards will be considered.
  • A valid state of origin certificate must be presented.
  • Applicants must be free of any criminal conviction and serving Armed Forces members must have never had any disciplinary case which is to be confirmed by the commanding officer/commander.
  • NYSC certificate is a must meanwhile corps members who will complete their service in 2020 can apply (Military Service Personnel are not inclusive).
  • Parents/ Guardians/ Next of Kin valid contact addresses and phone numbers are needed.
  • Applicants must be free of any inscription or tattoo.
  • The applicant must not be a member of any cult, secret society, or fraternity.
  • Every original copy of academic certificates from primary to post-secondary is required.
  • Those applying with professional certificates must be registered with the appropriate professional bodies.
  • Service members of the armed forces must present valid ID cards and letters of recommendation from their commanders/ commanding officers as well as a valid official letter(s) of sponsorship in tertiary academic institutions. The military personnel must have served for a minimum of five (5) years in the Nigeria Armed Forces.
  • Every military personnel applicant is obligated to specify the status of their service on the application as required by Harmonized Terms and Conditions of Service for the Armed Forces of Nigeria because a candidate may be disqualified at any stage if failed to do so as it is an offence.

>> Correctly complete your online application and upload these documents.

  • Passport photograph.
  • Educational certificates.
  • Evidence of membership of any professional body(if applicable).
  • Certificate of state of origin.
  • Birth certificate or age declaration.

>> Submit the application.

>> A photo slip will be automatically generated of which you are required to print out.

>> The photo-slip first page must be signed by the Registrar of any court of law while the second page by the applicant’s Local Government Chairman/Secretary or a serving military officer with Lieutenant Colonel rank and equivalent or an Assistant Commissioner of Police and above who must be of the same state as the applicant.

Important Notice

The application ends on the 6th of May 2022.

Candidates shall sit for a selection examination which shall take place at the candidate’s chosen centre.

The printed photo-slips must be submitted at the examination centre as well as subsequent screening and interview.
