Departments and Entry Requirements for the Nigerian Navy DSSC Recruitment
Seaman
- Applicants must possess BSc/HND
- Certification in Nautical Sciences.
- An individual with a membership of a relevant professional body has an added advantage.
Accounts and Budget
- Bachelor’s degree or HND certification in Economics and Accounting.
- A candidate who belongs to a professional body such as ICAN, ANAN, ACMA, ACCA, ACA has an added advantage.
- Bachelor’s Degree Certification in Theology obtained through a registered institution of theology from either of the below-listed:
- Catholic Mission.
- Protestant Mission.
- Candidates must have completed 2 years apprenticeship in Apostolic Ministry and be recommended from the pastoral missions.
- Applicants must be males and properly ordained clergy of their respective Christian faith.
Education
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)/ B.Sc Ed certification in relevant fields is a must.
- Holders of the first-degree certificate with PGD in the below-listed professions are eligible as well:
- Mathematics.
- Physics.
- Chemistry.
- History.
- Library Science (B.Sc).
- French Language.
- Chinese Language.
- Guidance and Counselling.
- Computer Science.
- Arabic Language.
Engineering
- Applicants must possess B.Sc or B Eng certification in the below-listed courses:
- Naval Architecture/Ship Design.
- Mechanical/Marine Engineering.
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- Aircraft Engineering/Aeronautical Engineering.
- An applicant who is a registered member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and belongs to the Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria (COREN) has an added advantage.
Human Resource Management
- B.Sc, BA, HND Certification or its’ equivalent in the below-listed:
- Personnel Management.
- Public Administration.
- Human Resource Management.
- An applicant who is a member of the National Institute of Management and other relevant bodies has an added advantage.
Hydrography
- Required B.Sc or HND Certification in the below-listed courses:
- Cartography.
- Surveying/Geoinformatics.
- Geophysics.
- Physical Oceanography.
- Membership of the National Institute of Statistics will be an added advantage.
- Applicants with B.Sc degree certification in Physics and Mathematics must possess a Post Graduate Diploma in Land Survey in order to be eligible.

Imam
- The applicant must have a Bachelor of Arts in Islamic Studies.
- Diploma in Counselling Psychology will be an added advantage.
Information
- B.Sc or HND in the following fields:

Information and Communication Technology
- Must possess a B.Sc/B.Tech/ B.Eng in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Priority will be given to candidates with a relevant qualification in the below-listed:

- Networking and network administration.
- Programming multimedia and software development.
- Server and database administration.
- Information and cybersecurity.
- Candidates with Certification in relevant fields have an added advantage.
Medical
- The below-listed medical fields with necessary entry qualifications are available:
General Doctors/Dental Surgeons
-MBBS, MBChB or equivalent.
-He/She must be a full registered member of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
-Must possess a current practicing license.
Pharmacy
-B.Pharm degree certification.
-Must be a full registered member of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria.
-Should possess a current practicing license.
Medical Lab Science
-Applicant should have Either a BMLS or AIMLS/ equivalent.
-Must be fully registered with the Medical Laboratory Scientist Council of Nigeria.
-Should possess a current practicing license.
Radiographer
-Minimum of BSc/HND in Radiography.
Current practicing license.
Physiotherapy
-B. Physiotherapy or BMR (Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation).
-The applicant must be registered with the Medical Rehabilitation Therapist Registration Board of Nigeria (MRTB).
-Should have a current practicing license.
Optometry
-Doctor of Optometry.
-She/He must be a fully registered optometrist, dispensing optician by the Optical Council of Nigeria.
-Should have a current practicing license.
Medical Records/Health Information Management
-BSc/ HND Certification is required.
Should have a current practicing license.
Dietician
-B.Sc or HND Dietician/Nutrition.
-Must be registered with the Dietetics Council of Nigeria.
-Should possess a current practicing license.
Clinical Psychology
BSc/HND in Clinical Psychology and Applied – Psychology.
-Should have a current practicing license.
Biomedical Engineer
-BSc/HND in Biomedical Engineering.
-A current practicing license.
Public Health Officer
-Must possess a BSc/HND Certification in either or Community Health Information and Education or Environmental Health.
-The applicant must be fully registered with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORCON).
-Must possess a current practicing license.
General Nursing/ Midwives
-B.NSc and RN/RM.
-Must possess a current practicing license.
-Post basic qualification in any of the below-listed fields has an added advantage:
1. Accident and Emergency Nurse.
2. Intensive Care Unit Nurse.
3. Peri-Operative Nurse.
4. Ophthalmic Nurse.
5. Dialysis/Renal Nurse.
Hospital Administration
-BSc/HND Certification in Hospital Administration.
-Should have a current practicing license.
Music
- BA/HND in Music.
- An applicant with proficiency in any musical instrument will have an added advantage.
Sports/PT
- BA/HND Certification in Physical & Health Education or Human Kinetics and Health Education.
- Candidates with proficiency in any physical sport will have an added advantage.
Logistics
- BSc/HND/B Eng in either of the following fields:
- Transport Management.
- Economics, Business Management or in Purchasing and Supply.
- Architecture.
- Catering/Hospitality Management.
- Civil Engineering.
- Quantity Survey.
- Structural Engineering.
- Estate Surveyor and Value.
- The applicant must have a Certificate of Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology.
Legal Services
- LLB and BL.
- Must have a minimum post qualification experience of 2 years.
Important Notice
- Fake certificates/false information leads to automatic disqualification and Applicant duly prosecuted.
- Applicants applying with the First-degree certification must be in at least Second Class Upper Division while those with HND must have Upper Credit.
- Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
- A certificate of full registration with the applicant’s statutory professional bodies in Nigeria is a must.
- Applicants applying with foreign institutions credentials should ensure the authentication of certificates by the Federal Ministry of Education.
- All applicants must be single.
O’level WAEC/NECO/GCE and equivalents with Credit in Mathematics and English is compulsory for every applicant. - NYSC discharge certificate or letter of exemption from NYSC is a must for every applicant.
- Male candidates must not be less than 1.68 meters tall.
- Female candidates must not be below 1.65 meters in height.
- Applicants should be from 22 – 28 years of age by 7 January 2021. Except for Chaplains and Imams who should not be above 30 years by the said date.
- A duly signed letter of attestation by the head of the unit is required from every serving personnel, Soldier/Rating/Airman, and other paramilitary services personnel.
- Candidates will be shortlisted according to the aptitude test results.
- The date and time of the Aptitude Test will be disposed of through the Nigerian Navy Recruitment website (www.joinnigeriannavy.com).
