NUC list of approved federal, state and private Universities for Post-graduate programme
The National Universities Commission, NUC has released a full list of approved post-graduate awarding private, State and Federal institutions in the country.
The list was released to the public through a bulletin signed by the NUC Executive Secretary and dated 14th May, it was made known in the list that Nigeria has one hundred and sixty-two (162) Universities in which 41 are Federal, 47 are state and 74 are private Universities.
26 out of 41 Federal owned Universities were approved and 25 out of 47 State-owned Universities were approved, while 18 Universities out of 74 privately owned were approved.
NUC said the aim of releasing the list is to notify the general public on the qualified institutions which are licensed to carry out the Programme and award of the Post-graduate degrees at the Masters and Ph.D. levels in the country since 30th July 2012.
“The commission said it observed some parastatals and institutes are awarding these same postgraduate degrees, either on their own or through unapproved affiliation with Nigerian and foreign universities.”
National Universities Commission is hereby, urging all the Labour employers, institutions and other stakeholders in the country to accept Post-graduate Certificates issued by only institutions in the approved list.
