PROGRAMME DURATION
- Master’s degree Programme in UniUyo takes a minimum period of four semesters or at most; six semesters long.
- Ph.D. Programme in UniUyo requires a minimum of six semesters or at most ten semesters.
- Postgraduate Diploma Programmes – All Postgraduate Diploma Programmes will last for a minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters except in the Faculty of Engineering
- PGD in Engineering – a minimum of four semesters is required to complete this program though, a maximum of six semesters may be granted.
NOTE: All programs in the Postgraduate School are full time. Part-time programs are domiciled in the School of Continuing Education.
Eligibility for the UniUyo Postgraduate Programmes Admission 2020/2021
- Aspirants for the UniUyo Postgraduate Degree (PGD) programme should be graduates of the University of Uyo or any other recognized university by the Senate of the UniUyo, or candidates who possess qualifications adjudged by the Senate of the UniUyo to be equivalent to first degree or holders of recognized Higher National Diploma (HND).
- Masters Degree applicants must be graduates with a minimum of Second Class Honors degree in the Lower Division (Irrespective of CGPA).
- Candidates applying for M.Sc in Medical Microbiology should be graduates of one of the following:
– Microbiology
– Virology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Microbiology (PGDM)
– MBBCh/MBBS or its equivalent
- Doctoral Degree Programme aspirants should be graduates of the UniUyo or any other recognized University by the Senate of the University of Uyo, the applicant must have Master’s degrees with dissertation and an overall average score with a minimum of 60% (B)
Requirements for the UniUyo Postgraduate Programmes Admission 2020/2021
- All applicants are required to possess credit pass at Ordinary Level in five relevant subjects including the English Language obtained at not more than two sittings.
- Candidates that O’ Level examination results were obtained before 2016 must possess their original certificates as a statement of results or result slips would not be accepted.
- Candidates applying for the Faculty of Agriculture must possess credit passes in chemistry as one of the five relevant Ordinary level subjects.
- LLM and Ph.D. in Law aspirants must possess credit pass in English Literature as one of the five relevant Ordinary level subjects.
- Every candidate will undergo a screening test that will cover the subject area of specialization and oral interaction in the Department.
- NYSC Completion Certificate/ Exemption Certificate, one of the certificates must be submitted with the application form before the screening test is taken.
- Candidates whose first degrees certification was acquired through Remedial Programmes must present evidence of having remedied the relevant subjects for their programmes externally; that is, via WASCE, NECO, NABTEB.
- Furthermore, applicants are required to meet the departmental requirements for their programmes.
- Applicants must return their completed application forms with two hard copies of their Dissertation Proposal.
